Happy New Year!
In December JJ and I flew back to the UK for 10 days to spend Christmas with our families, and then headed to the Italian Alps for a 10-day ski trip.
I mostly spent the 10 day UK trip in my hometown of St Albans, catching up with family and friends. I had a 5-week old nephew to meet and a brand new baby niece who I only just got to meet as she was born the day before I flew to Italy – timing!
Usually, when I visit the UK I’m travelling up and down the country to try and visit as many people as possible, this time I decided to stay at Mum and Dad’s and only make one day trip to London. The result was a very relaxing few days with lots of quality family time, long dog walks and good food.

SKIING IN SANSICARIO
After Christmas, we flew to Milan to meet JJ’s sister, brother-in-law and their 2 kiddies. From Milan, we drove to Sansicario in the Piedmont region of north-western Italy. The drive from Milan took around 3 hours, but the nearest airport to Sansicario is actually Turin which is about a 1½ hour drive.
The Italian ski resort of Sansicario is part of the ‘Milky Way’ area. In addition to the skiing in Sansicario itself (39 pisted runs), you can buy lift passes that will allow you to ski or snowboard in the Milky Way resorts of Clavière, Sauze d’Oulx, Sestrière and Montgenèvre as well.
All levels of skiing/snowboarding ability are well-catered for in Sansicario. JJ’s 5-year-old nephew and 3-year-old niece absolutely loved their first time in ski school – nothing like starting ’em young!
The 6 of us stayed in a cosy chalet that we found on Airbnb, it was only a couple of minutes drive/a 20 min walk to the ski lifts. When not on the slopes we were indulging in apres ski Aperol Spritz’s and delicious Italian food…oooh yeeeah.
Turin Winter Olympic Team
So that’s how I spent the holidays, perfecto. I hope you had a fantastic festive season and would love to hear in the comments if you went on a winter vacation last/this year as well. Ciao ciao!
